Chess boards have been made the same way for a long time.

Two contrasting colors of wood are cut into strips, and glued edge to edge.

Turn that glued board 90 degrees, cut strips again.

Flip every other strip, glue up again.

While there may be very little about this set that is truly unique,

Every moment of work spent on it was spent thinking about the recipient -

Thinking of decisions they might like, thinking of them. Appreciating them.

This set was made as a gift - a housewarming present for two close friends.

A reminder to play, and a reminder of the love and support they have.
